Home For Now
Home.
We were discharged from the hospital last week! For Benji's condition and the expected recovery time, being home this soon is amazing. He has been doing remarkably well at home, and we are so grateful. He is gaining weight and his stats have stayed stable. His cardiologist says the surgery couldn't have been performed better, and he doesn't expect structural concerns between now and the next open heart surgery this summer. The goal now is more weight gain and catching up on his development.
While we are grateful to be home, we must admit it's been a challenge. Benji requires around the clock monitoring, medicine, wound cleaning, and very strictly measured feeds. We also have at least one doctor appointment each week, and it will often be more. All this while parenting an active 15-month old and trying to process what have been very hard circumstances.
If you're following our journey, take this post to rejoice with us! We are home, and so far things have gone as well as we could have hoped. God has proven Himself good over and over. As you celebrate, we also appreciate continued prayers as we learn to navigate everyday life with a medically needy son. It's been a long road and there's a long way to go. Pray for perseverance, perspective, provision, and healthy stress and trauma processing.
Oh, and for sleep. We sure could use some sleep.
Pressing On,
A & C
