The operation began this morning at 8:30am and ended about five hours later. The surgeon said everything went well and that Benji's heart is strong. They did not have to put him on an external heart-lung machine, meaning Benji's heart was not stopped for this procedure and he used his own lungs to breathe during the procedure, with help. That's a huge win for recovery! His breathing tube is already out and they are getting him hooked up in his room. We expect to be able to go back and be with him soon.

NOW, the work for Benji and us begins as we take on recovery over the next several weeks. Keep praying for him and for us.
