Letter #1

Dear C,

I know the future looks equally bright and terrifying. The possibilities are endless, but so are the pitfalls and potential mistakes. You want so much out of life, but you also know it comes at a cost. All these thoughts and more swirl in your head until they overwhelm or paralyze you. So listen and remember a few things. You will succeed and fail. Guess what? That's okay. You will stand on top of mountains, but you will also become well acquainted with the depths of valleys. Both are wise teachers. You will experience extraordinary things while walking through the intensely mundane. Both have their place, one more than you will ever want. You will show tremendous courage, but you will also have times when you chose fear. You can learn from both, but ultimately, the choice is yours. All of these are just a hint of this thing we call life, a life we can't do alone. Independence is the message they preach from the modern pulpit, but it is a lie. You are needy, and no matter how old or capable you are, that will remain true. And yet, there is power, joy, peace, and freedom in unrestricted dependence. May you, timid, idealistic, hopeful girl, always place your whole being and dependence in Him. When you're on the mountain and when your fear has hindered your steps of faith. Seek Him like a girl madly in love, because He loved you to death.

Sincerely,

C.
