Diagnosis: Confirmed (And Choosing a Team)
About 6 weeks ago, we shared the news that our unborn son, Benjamin, was diagnosed with a severe heart defect. In the weeks since we have pursued second and third opinions, all of which confirm the original diagnosis. The standard of care includes two major heart surgeries in the first six months of life, another major surgery before age three, and, eventually, a heart transplant.
While Benji's diagnosis is severe and the road ahead is undoubtedly long, arduous, and uncertain, multiple doctors and institutions have looked at his scans and cautiously given us reason to believe we will not have to relocate long-term for his care. We are now looking at weeks to months away at a time, not months to years away. While we recognize that could change instantly, that is a weight off our shoulders.
Because we likely will not need to relocate, we are lowering our fundraising goal by $10,000. That is what we expected to need to cover moving and storage, plus first/last/security in a new rental. Though we are grateful that the relocation amount is likely unneeded, we are still facing significant expenses that insurance will not cover, plus housing, food, and regular bills that must be paid.
Our new fundraising goal is $30,000. We have raised about 25% of that already and are so grateful to those who have given! Anything you can give will enable us to provide undivided attention to our family throughout most of next year until Benjamin medically stabilizes and we can return to full-time work and ministry.

We are still deciding which team and institution to entrust with these operations and the long-term care of our son, but we expect to decide in the next couple of weeks. We ask for your continued prayers for wisdom as we diligently seek information to make the best decision possible. We are exhausted from all of this, and we could use some physical rest and mental relief. Pray for that, also.
We are committed to sharing our journey and updating when appropriate. Thank you for following our journey and praying for us. You will hear from us again soon.
