Thirty-Three

Dear thirty-three,

You arrived quietly on a Sunday morning. Sunday happens to be my favorite day of the week. Of all the billions of people on this planet, only a tiny atom of them will recognize your coming. I will place on your shoulders great expectations of which I cannot help. There will be disappointments, new and old fears, and many lackluster things. Nothing about your future is sure; save the One who holds you. That alone is reason to be grateful and full of hope. Dear thirty-three, may your standard of success and worth not be bogged down by lies. May you not strive for what is not worth having. Rather, may you remember your time is precious, May you walk with courageous, self-denying faith. May the fruit of your life be the flourishing fragrant fruit of the Spirit. May you run with the peace and confidence that comes with being His. May you never forget that He is who He says He is. Your good caretaker is wise and faithful. He is trustworthy. So trust Him, love Him, seek Him, and watch to see what He will do.
