Christmas Lament

What if the night grows long and the lights go dim

We're dwelling in shadows

Struck by the pangs of sin

Can we still praise the babe?

Can we still sing a hymn?

What if we don't feel jolly?

What if we don't feel alright?

What if we're drowning alone on this silent night?

Does the King still delight in our somber refrain?

Is He still glorified when we raise up broken carols declaring His name
